The social media audit tool is super simple and easy to use. You will be presented with a number of questions on the lefthand side. Beside each question is a drop down list of answers. Once you input your answer, the result will instantly appear. If you’re unsure what your result means, there is an answer key at the top of the page. After you complete your audit, return to this page to further interpret your results.

Interpreting Your Results

After you complete your self-audit, you may be wondering what exactly do your results mean. In general, the more green you see, the better! To help you thoroughly understand your results, we’ll go through each question below. If there is something you want to learn more about, simply open up the dropdown list to expand the question and answer.

  • Whether or not you currently feel satisfied with your social media platforms is a good place to start. Although it may seem like an obvious question, it’s something that can easily get overlooked!

  • If you don’t feel confident using your current social media platforms, you’re less likely to utilize them! It may also be a good indication of whether or not you would benefit from outsourcing your social media marketing to another staff member or marketing team.

  • In order to have a thriving social media marketing strategy, it is often best to expand and reach audiences across multiple platforms.

  • When it comes to social media posts, quality and quantity are both important. However, frequency of posting is associated with a greater degree of engagement from your followers - followers who could easily become potential customers.

  • When someone types your business name into Google, they will hopefully see your website right away. However, it’s also a great sign if they see your Facebook Page, Twitter account, and other social media platforms. It lets users know that you are an active and legitimate business, AND allows for them to contact you via multiple avenues. Some people prefer reaching out on more casual platforms, such as Facebook Messenger, instead of filling out a contact form or calling your business line.

  • Knowing how many people are currently engaging with the content you are putting up on social media is a good indication of whether or not your followers connect with your content - or whether it’s time to come up with a different strategy.

  • Some people prefer reaching out on more casual platforms, such as Facebook Messenger, instead of filling out a contact form or calling your business line. Receiving messages on your social media means that your customers are comfortable with you on that platform and are willing to engage with you in a more personal way.

  • When a potential customer or client sends you a message on a social media platform, they are expecting a quick response. A delay any longer than 24 hours might mean that they move on to another business.

  • When someone visits your Twitter page or Facebook page or any of your other social media accounts, they should know right away that they are your company’s pages! Using consistent branding, handles, and linking to your website will ensure that everyone knows exactly who you are and will feel comfortable contacting you through any of your social media platforms.

  • Scheduling tools are super helpful to ensure you stay organized and post content consistently, regardless of how busy you are.

  • Not posting as frequently as you like may be an indication that you simply do not have enough time or resources to pour into your social media strategy.

  • If you have a marketing team, it’s best if only a few staff are assigned your social media tasks. Too many people working on the account can create brand inconsistency. Too few people or one person spread too thin could cause post delays or lack of engaging content.

  • Dedicating at least one hour to social media posting and engaging each week will ensure your followers are getting relevant content and have the opportunity to communicate with you in a timely manner.

  • “Dead” social media accounts can make it look like your business is, well, no longer in business! Updating your accounts lets followers know that you’re around and ready to engage with them.

  • Some businesses thrive on Facebook, while others may feel like Pinterest or TikTok is their thing. While it’s great to use multiple platforms, it’s also important to know your audience and determine where your marketing efforts would be best spent.

  • When it comes to social media marketing, there are a lot of strategies that you can use. Not all strategies work for all businesses, and it can take some trial and error to figure out which is best for you.

  • If you have a larger marketing department, it’s important that they understand the benefits of social media marketing in today’s online world. Dedicating ALL of their time might not be wise, but it’s all not a good idea to completely ignore the importance of social media marketing.
